Nestled in a beautiful spot near the lake and just a short walk away from the main camp area, you will find our beautiful labyrinth and peace pole which were dedicated on May 25, 2008. Designed in the classic rosette-style and patterned after the famous labyrinth found in Chartres Cathedral in France, our labyrinth consists of eleven circuits, is 76 feet in diameter and takes approximately 30 minutes to walk. Many have found that walking the labyrinth is a deeply spiritual and meditative experience that brings about an opening of the heart, a clarity of mind and a profound sense of connection and peacefulness. In the center of our labyrinth and surrounded by six stone benches, stands a magnificent and unique peace pole. The nearly ten-foot tall, eleven-sided bronze and copper pole was created by artist Joel Selmeier specifically for The Unity Center and contains the translation of "May peace prevail on Earth" in 34 languages. This breath-taking work of art stands as a powerful reminder of our hope and vision for a loving and peaceful world that works for all. |
